Playing sport

You will have lots of opportunities to get involved with playing sport outside of your course.

National Competition

The college is affiliated to British Colleges’ Sport (BCS) and takes part in the full range of competitions covering both team and individual sports. In support of this programme the college enters the BCS West Midlands championships at Lilleshall in December and if successful, the National Championships in April, held at Bath University.

The teams offer talented players the chance to get quality coaching - available on Monday and Wednesday sessions. Activities include physical, mental, technical and tactical aspects of the game, fitness assessments and matches in league and cup games against other colleges. There are opportunities to get coaching and refereeing qualifications.

Successful students will have the opportunity to represent the team in the British Colleges Cup and the Midland Colleges League.

What you can expect

In additional to your main qualifications the college offers:

  • Training and matches incorporated into the timetable
  • Games against local schools and colleges
  • British Colleges Sport tournaments
  • Individual fitness assessments and programming
  • The opportunity to gain representative honours for England Colleges.

Students who represent GB squads will be given time off to attend specialist training events and competitions, as long as it doesn't interfere with the achievement of the main qualification and attendance of 80%.
