Parent Charter
We have a commitment to putting our students first and
helping young adults develop into responsible citizens in the
community.
For parents and carers of full time students under 18 we have
developed a charter with guidelines about working with you to
support your offspring through their time at the college.
The college Parent Charter formally sets out our
commitment to parents and carers.
For parents or carers of students under 18 years, on full-time
courses, we will:
- make available accurate and reliable information about the
college and its programmes of study
- encourage you to visit the college, meet staff, attend open
days and accompany your son/daughter at interview and arrange
support if required
- provide on request information about your son/daughter’s
timetable and assignment schedule
- provide information about your son/daughter’s performance in at
least one written report a year and at least one parents’ evening a
year
- provide reports in other languages if requested
- contact you if your son/daughter’s attendance, timekeeping or
performance gives cause for concern
- seek parents' views of their experiences of the college through
a variety of methods
- at the beginning of the course, send you contact names and
telephone numbers, along with a copy of the Student Agreement and
information about the Parents' Forum
- contact you if your son/daughter is unwell or injured and needs
to be collected from college
- respond to information you give us about any individual needs
you might have, for example access, disabled parking or
requirements for emergency evacuation assistance.
We aim for our young learners to become good
citizens. During their studies, full-time
students can also get involved in a new qualification
called the 'Extended project' and self select topics which
interest them.
