For parents
This section of the website is designed to help parents
find answers to any questions they may have about sending their son
or daughter to college.
Why college?
So why should your son or daughter choose college over sixth
form or any other options?
College offers a wide range of specialist facilities and course
options. Students have opportunities to meet new people and get
used to a higher level of independence, helping to prepare them for
work or university.
Reasons to choose Warwickshire College:
Excellent results – we have a 98% A level pass
rate, with 75% of our students achieving grades A*-C
Award-winning teaching standards – the college
was scored a Grade One 'Outstanding' College by OFSTED.
Exceptional facilities – each of our six
centres has specialist equipment and facilities for a wide range of
subjects, from agriculture, to business and the creative arts.
Visit the subject
areas to see the facilities.
Support and wellbeing – help is available with
essay writing and study skills, with the transition from
school to college, and for students with learning difficulties
. Each student has a personal learning adviser to support them,
help them manage their workload and make the most of their
opportunities.
Students who excel – our students regularly win
high profile
awards in their specialist fields.
Your child’s future
Links with employers
We have excellent links with employers in the Midlands in a wide
range of industries, and our students move on to exciting careers
in their chosen fields.
Many of our courses combine work and study, whether through
work-based training or apprenticeships. Employers often come to us
looking for students to take up apprenticeships.
University
If your child wants to go to university we offer a range of
routes to help them. They can follow the traditional A-levels
route, or choose a more vocational course. Or they can begin higher
education with us by studying a foundation degree, or even taking a
full honours degree at the college.
When it comes to applying for university, we will support your
son or daughter through the selection process and help them with
their UCAS application.
Careers advice
If your son or daughter is unsure what course they want to
study, does not know if college is right for them or wants some
advice about career choices, they can talk to one of our career
advisers.
Appointments are available during term time and holidays, and
help with applications for jobs and university is also offered.
The careers team can offer:
- individual guidance interviews with an adviser
- careers education on job and training opportunities
- computer-aided career choice programmes and information
databases
- help with employment, training and education
