Film student Tom gets his first taste of fame
Spielberg in the making, Warwickshire
College student Tom Badger has just completed his first
professionally commissioned short film – and it has already been
seen by thousands of people.
Tom, 23, was asked to put the skills he has
gained on his Extended Diploma course in Film and TV Production to
good use by producing a promotional video for the Falstaff
Experience Tudor World in Stratford-upon-Avon, where he has worked
for the past three years.
Working to a tight brief, Tom filmed, produced
and starred in the online advert for the Stratford museum, which is
one of the town’s premier tourist destinations.

The film is available online at the museum’s
website and also on YouTube, and has already encouraged more school
groups to visit the venue.
Tom, who lives near Stratford-upon-Avon, said:
“They are over-the-moon with it and so am I. We had a
really good time making it and we’ve had more than 2,000 views on
YouTube already.
“We wanted it to be light-hearted, because
although the Falstaff Experience is a museum during the day, at
night we do spooky stuff including ghost walks.”
Tom now intends on becoming a film maker once
he leaves Warwickshire College, and hope to put his film and music
skills to good use for others.
Tom added: “I’m hoping to start my own film
business – it’s something I’ve always wanted to do. I want to
be a film maker, producer, director and editor and music
composer
“The courses I have done at Warwickshire
College have been a brilliant help to me. I’ve gained a lot
of film-making skills and learnt what film-making is all
about.”
Museum creative director, Janet Ford said:
“We were delighted to provide Tom with the chance to develop
in his desired vocation. Since taking over the museum we have
found that by giving young talent a chance we get superb
results.
“It has been a pleasure watching Tom develop
over the years and we are extremely proud of the work he has
produced for us. After all this could be his first step on the road
to stardom.”
