Honorary Fellowship for James Shera
Long-standing friend and supporter of Warwickshire College,
Cllr James Shera MBE, has been awarded an honorary fellowship at a
ceremony at the college’s Trident Centre.
James was on the Board of Governors from 2003-2009. He has been
active on many committees and a particular advocate for the new
Rugby Centre. To mark his enormous contribution, the Governors felt
it fitting that he be installed as an Honorary Fellow of
Warwickshire College.
In 1992 James was awarded the Star of Pakistan (the highest
civil award) presented by the President of Pakistan for services to
community relations and inter-faith in Britain. James was recently
awarded an MBE for services to communities and the NHS.
James said “it is my pride and joy to have worked with
Warwickshire College and I am honoured to receive this fellowship.
It is so important for the people of Rugby to have a new, modern
centre. Rugby is an expanding town with a strong industry base and
this modern centre will suit the modern needs of the people of this
town.”
In accepting this Honorary Fellowship, James has generously
agreed to take on an ‘ambassadorial’ role as Chair of the group of
Fellows who would meet occasionally and who promote the College,
open doors and be College advocates.

James was presented with his fellowship medal by Ioan Morgan
CBE, Principal and Ian Pickford, Chair of Governors.
Ioan said “James is a true friend of the College. He has given
long and loyal service on the Board of Governors and been a true
advocate for the college and the various communities we serve in
Warwickshire and Worcestershire.”
