Dog grooming entrepreneur
Seventeen year old Rebecca Morson from Hinckley has chosen
Warwickshire College’s Moreton Morrell centre as her training
provider of choice, to help her business grow.
The young entrepeneur has recently taken over
Leicestershire-based company ‘Posh Pets’ from her former manager
and is thriving at the helm.
Originally a work experience student at ‘Tina’s Posh Pets’ in
Hinckley, Rebecca heard that her boss was retiring from the
business and seized the opportunity with both hands. She is now
re-branding and re-opening the dog grooming business as ‘Posh
Pets’.
Posh Pets is the one of the few dog groomers in the
Leicestershire area and the only one to offer ‘scissoring.’ This
advanced technique is cutting the dog’s fur by hand, using a
traditional pair of scissors, instead of the electrical clippers
which are used by many grooming parlours.
At only seventeen years old, Rebecca has the full support of her
family with her grandfather helping her with the business aspects
and her grandmother working hands-on in the parlour. Rebecca
approached Warwickshire College to explore the opportunity of
taking on her own work experience students, as well as future
apprenticeships and bespoke training packages.
Work-based Learning Co-ordinator Jessica Rendle, who has been
working with and supporting Rebecca said: “It’s great to see that
as a previous work-experience student herself, Rebecca is embracing
the Warwickshire College philosophy to work with students enabling
them to gain valuable experience.”
Warwickshire College work with a number of businesses throughout
the UK. The college is constantly looking to work in partnership,
including those requiring work experience students, apprenticeships
or bespoke training packages.
