College helps small businesses get ahead online
Warwickshire College is helping small businesses to
get the most out of being online, with a brand new course, run over
three evenings
The course helps businesses to improve their
company websites and position on internet search engines such as
Google, Bing and Yahoo! This is known as Search Engine Optimisation
(SEO).
Course tutor, Vernon Blackmore, who has many
years’ experience running a local web design business, said: “This
course is important for any company which would benefit from people
being able to find them online. In challenging economic times, this
is especially important for businesses as it makes their goods and
services more easily found and therefore competitive.
“There are a number steps businesses can take
to improve their online presence, without needing to be technical
experts or web designers. Google uses over 200 criteria as it looks
for the best possible search results for its users. Understanding
the main factors and knowing what small changes to put in place can
make a big difference to a business.”
This course starts at the end of February at
the Leamington centre and runs for three hours a week, for three
weeks, with a follow up session to assess how effective the changes
have been. This non-technical course is aimed at small business
owners, managers and administrators who want to learn how to get
more out of their website.
