Sky Blues come to college
In this year of the London 2012
Olympics, Coventry City FC and Warwickshire College have teamed up,
offering free football training to college students. Sky
Blues in the Community is running free six-week football courses at
the Rugby, Leamington, Moreton Morrell and Henley-in -Arden
centres.
Business Development Manager at Sky Blues in
the Community, Guy Rippon, said: “Coventry City and Sky Blues in
the Community is dedicated to helping local people take full
advantage of local sporting opportunities. Football is a powerful
way of engaging with people and a good way for Coventry City to
give something back to the community to which we belong.”

Mike Hilton, Sport Engagement Officer at
Warwickshire College said: “The college has teamed up with the Sky
Blues to provide courses for students of any ability and fitness
level. We hope that many students will discover a new interest in
sport, developing healthy habits to give them a lifetime of
enjoyment.”
Following the six-week course, students will
then be offered the opportunity to link up with other local clubs
and football leagues, pursuing their interest further. Selected
students will also be given the opportunity to progress to the FA’s
level 1 football coaching qualification.
Warwickshire College is part of the Olympic Get Set network and is engaged in a
number of activities to promote the Olympic values to students
throughout the year, other activities have included Olympics-based
fashion designs and art murals.
