Care providers share best practice
Health and social care providers in
Coventry and Warwickshire are being given a boost thanks to a new
‘care forum’ initiative at Warwickshire College.
These forums bring together industry
professionals to discuss the training needs of the sector and
consider ways of moving forward together to meet its needs.
Twenty-eight employees, representing 24 different providers, came
along to the event in February at the Trident centre.
Key decision-makers from local health and
social care organisations - including a number of NHS trusts,
private home care providers and domiciliary services - spent the
afternoon with the college’s Health and Social Care team.

Topics discussed included apprenticeships in
the sector, the new Qualification and Curriculum Framework (QCF)
and opportunities to study at foundation degree level.
Workforce Development Manager, Raman Gurnani,
said: “The health and social care industry is going through some
major changes. The care forum aims to provide those who are
delivering care with up-to-date, clear and practical
information.
“Care forums give us a unique opportunity to
work with local employers to develop a competent workforce which
meets the needs of this evolving industry.”
Louise De Bruyne from Mencap Way Ahead Support
Services in Warwick, said: “We found the forum to be really
useful. Training and development is a changing force at the moment,
so it is good to know that there is a place to express concerns and
receive feedback on how we can, through working in partnership with
services such as Warwickshire College, continue to provide a highly
skilled and professional workforce.”
