Bishop of Coventry visits
The Bishop of Coventry, Rt Revd Dr Christopher Cocksworth,
visited the Moreton Morrell centre, opening its multi-faith
prayer room.
The Bishop visited with members of local churches and honorary
college Chaplain, Neil Dunlop. The college has a positive
relationship with local churches, which provide a weekly lunchtime
club and chaplaincy support for students.
The new multi-faith room was created by college staff and church
volunteers to provide a quiet space and a permanent prayer room for
those of all faiths and none.

Kenworthy, open the multi-faith prayer room
Neil said: “At our lunchtime club, we have up to 40 students and
find that they are keen to engage in lively discussions on a range
of issues. We are also able provide a listening ear, complementing
the help and support which students receive from the college. The
multi-faith room provides some quiet space for people to reflect
and gives us the opportunity to support them if they are going
through difficult times.”
Opening the new facility, Bishop Christopher said: “It gives me
real joy to open this multi-faith room. The learning that takes
place in this impressive centre at Moreton Morrell creates a sense
of belonging to the land and being part of the whole community of
living things. This special room gives space for students and staff
to express deep human instincts of belonging to the One who - in
the words of the ancient Jewish psalm - created the earth and all
who dwell in it”.
The party also toured the rest of the centre, visiting the farm,
the horticulture unit, the animal welfare department and the horse
unit.
