Top art student
Art student Beth Heath has received an award for her
outstanding art work from the National Association of Decorative
and Fine Arts Societies (NADFAS).
The award was presented to the most outstanding student on the
art foundation course by Vera Leeke,
Chair of NADFAS and Rosemarie Jewel-Clark, Young Arts
Representative.

Beth, who is from Birmingham, received £300, and will receive a
£100-a-year bursary during her ongoing art studies. She is due
to start a course in 3D Design at the University of
Loughborough in September.
This is the ninth year that NADFAS have sponsored the award,
which encourages talented Warwickshire College arts students.
Ms Leeke explained: “At NADFAS, we are keen to encourage the
young artists of the future and endorse their creativity. We like
to keep in touch with the students we support and hope that this
will be the start of an ongoing relationship between NADFAS and
talented young artists in our area.”
Beth’s work will shortly be going down to the Chelsea College of
Art and Design where it will be on display over the summer,
alongside that of another student, Sarah Osborne.
Beth said: “I was really surprised to win this award. It will
make a big difference to me and I am planning to use the money to
buy a laptop or a camera for my studies.”
“I love art, it’s what I’m good at and I like to make things
that people will use. Coming to college was a great move for me. I
was given lots of encouragement and freedom to experiment with new
ideas.”
