Investors in People

Investors in People (IiP) is an exacting national standard that helps organisations to improve performance through their people. It ties the organisation’s strategy and objectives to the roles and activities of members of staff on a daily basis.

By ensuring that staff are well trained, developed and motivated, the college has a profound impact on the learning experience of each and every student.

IiP carried out an in-depth assessment of the college and found that it satisfied all the evidence requirements from their core standard and additional requirements from their extended framework, leading to the bronze award.

Many areas of strength and good practice were identified in the assessment, but of particular note was the organisation-wide understanding of the college’s core values which are to:

• put the learner first
• deliver the highest quality in all that we do
• promote a fair, open and respectful culture

The report noted that there was a great deal of passion for the core values and a clear sense of shared purpose, with one staff member saying: “Our core values are the glue that holds everything together.”

Warwickshire College is a large employer with some 1,750 staff working across six centres. The report also observed that ‘people demonstrated a real sense of purpose and pride in working for the college and are committed to student success.’

Another member of staff said: “I am passionate about adult learning. I absolutely love it. We are responsible for developing the future workforce of our country and I take that responsibility very seriously.”

Principal and CEO. Mariane Cavalli, said: “I am delighted that we have maintained our IiP recognition and met the requirements of the IiP standard with bronze status. This is purely and simply down to the staff who continue to demonstrate a real sense of purpose and pride in working for Warwickshire College.

"Our core values have been proven to be deeply held and remain firmly embedded into the culture and ethos of the organisation. We look forward to continuing to build on this achievement and move rapidly to the next levels.”
