Financial support

Some financial support is available to help with the cost of transport to and from college.

If you meet the following eligibility criteria and live further than three miles from the centre where you are studying, you will be able to apply for a bursary to cover 50% of the cost of your termly bus pass to get to college.

Eligibility criteria

You must be aged under 19 on 31 August before your course starts and not in receipt of the transitional EMA payment of £20. However individual cases of severe financial hardship may still be considered.

You also must:

  • have a household income of under £16,109 after deductions of tax and National Insurance (school meal criteria) - add £1,500 to this figure for each dependent child under age 18

or

  • a means tested benefit including Housing Benefit, Working Family Tax Credit (income limit £16,109) and Income Support.

Evidence of your financial position (which must be dated within the last six months) can include:

  • Income Support, ESA, JSA letters
  • Working Tax Credit documentation from HMRC
  • proof of Housing Benefit
  • P60 or  wage slips (at least two wage slips)

Please call into Student Services at any of our centres to complete an application form, making sure you bring your evidence of eligibilty with you.

If you are applying for a Warwickshire County Council bus pass and you do not meet their criteria but you meet the college criteria, please continue to apply to the college in the same way – a college bursary may still be available to you.
