Career Development Loan
A bank loan between £300 - £10,000.
The Young People's Learning Agency (YPLA) pays any interest on
the loan while you are studying – and for one month afterwards.
You can use a Professional and Career Development Loan to help
with:
- course fees up to 80 percent or up to 100 percent if unemployed
for three months
- other course costs, like books, travel and childcare
- living expenses like rent - if unemployed or work less than 30
hours a week.
Applicants must be:
- 18 years or over
- living in the UK and have been a resident for at least
three years
- intending to work in the UK, the EU or the EEA when the course
is finished.
Your application will take between six weeks - three months to
process, so make sure you apply in advance.
If your application is successful, the bank will send you a
credit agreement. You and the college will need to sign this. If
your application is turned down, you can apply to another
participating bank.
Career development loans are personal loans between
you and the bank.
Before taking out a loan, check how much your monthly repayments
will be, and that you feel confident that you can pay
them.
