Moreton Morrell halls

The residential area provides the backbone of community life at the Moreton Morrell centre.

With provision for over 200 full-time students, we have accommodation facilities for students aged under and over eighteen years old.

On-site facilities include a laundry, bar with large screen televisions and pool table, student common room, shop, sports hall and refectory.

Under 18 students

All students under eighteen are given a daily (Monday to Friday) half-board food allowance to be spent in the refectory. Each under eighteen block has a small kitchen with refrigerator, microwave and kettle for any additional student use.

Arden Hall (catered)

Generally reserved for under eighteen male students, the 40 well-proportioned study bedrooms are fully equipped with:

  • Washbasin
  • Single bed and bedside cabinet
  • Desk with shelving unit and drawers, chair and wardrobe
  • 24 hr internet access (included in cost).*

The bedrooms are divided into hostels of eight sharing two showers and two toilets and are spacious enough to allow students to make their rooms homely and comfortable.

Avon Hall (catered)

Also accommodating students over eighteen on the bottom floors, under-eighteen female student occupy the four flats on the top two floors. The 35 study bedrooms are equipped with:

  • Ensuite shower room with shower, washbasin and toilet
  • Single bed and bedside cabinet
  • Desk with shelving unit and drawers, chair and wardrobe
  • 24 hr internet access (included in cost)*
  • TV aerial point.

Over 18 students

Students over eighteen years old can choose between our self-catered and catered accommodation.

Jubilee Hall (self-catered)

Jubilee is divided into flats of between seven and 10 study bedrooms. Each flat has a fully equipped kitchen with oven, hob, refrigerator, freezer, microwave, kettle and cupboard space. This is often a student’s first opportunity to cook for themselves and so we encourage students to try to cook with their flatmates to make the most of the experience. The 52 bedrooms are equipped with:

  • Ensuite shower room with shower, washbasin and toilet
  • Single bed and bedside cabinet
  • Desk with shelving unit and drawers, chair and wardrobe
  • 24 hr internet access (included in cost)*
  • TV aerial point

Avon Hall (catered)

There are around 15 study rooms for students over 18 in Avon Hall equipped with:

  • Ensuite shower room with shower, washbasin and toilet
  • Single bed and bedside cabinet
  • Desk with shelving unit and drawers, chair and wardrobe
  • 24 hr internet access (included in cost)*
  • TV aerial point

A small kitchen with refrigerator, microwave and kettle is available for any additional cooking.

(From Sept 2012 four flats in Avon Hall will become self-catered for over 18's)

Feldon Hall (catered)

Built in the early 1990s, this accommodation is slightly older than that of Avon and Jubilee, but provides the same room and ensuite facilities. Like Arden, the bedrooms are separated into hostels, each with a small kitchen equipped with refrigerator, microwave and kettle.

Cost 2011/12

Please note that the total accommodation fee is payable in three termly instalments preceding the start of each respective term. Catered students have a daily allowance of £8.20.
