SMT Developments
SMT Developments began life in the year 2000 with the owner
and just one other person working for him.
Today they employ 40 people at two sites in Warwick. SMT’s core
business is in populating printed circuit boards (PCBs) and the
people they employ to do this are necessarily highly skilled and
experienced.
PCBs are required in all manner of equipment and machinery and
the company supplies a diverse range of markets including the
automotive, autosport, avionics, medical, military, mining, naval,
robotics and security sectors.
They are in their second year of working with Warwickshire
College and currently have two managers on an NVQ level 3 in
Management, three on a Team Leaders NVQ at level 2 and one person
on a level 2 Warehousing NVQ.
Elaine Rowley, Director said: “We approached Warwickshire
College to help us meet our business needs and they recommended the
most appropriate courses for us. The programmes are still in
progress, but we have noticed that they are very good for morale
and for each individual’s career progression. They also reinforce
and secure knowledge.
Warwickshire College provides a very good service. We do
sometimes need to re-arrange sessions at the last moment due to
work pressures and they have always been very flexible in meeting
our requirements.”
