DeliveryCo
Providing their employees with Driver CPC periodic training has
enabled logistics company, DeliveryCo to maximise staff development
in a time of organisational change.
The need for training was recognised when three very individual
paper merchants consolidated their logistics and warehousing
functions into a new single dedicated service organisation called
DeliveryCo. The decision to invest further in staff
development was part of the company’s strategic plan, helping staff
adapt and make the most of the change.
The DeliveryCo’s Learning and Development ‘Road Map’ offers a wide
spectrum of learning opportunities, including various NVQs and
Driver CPC training.
Although the compulsory Driver CPC training is the driver’s own
responsibility, the company recognised the value of investing in
its employees, upskilling the workforce and increasing retention
rates. It therefore made the decision to fund the training for each
of its drivers. So far, around 300 drivers have completed the
first 2 modules of the Driver CPC periodic training programme.

The NVQ programme began in 2008 with 30 warehouse employees
completing their qualification in warehousing and storage.
Since then, a total of around 400 NVQs have been undertaken.
Steph Goodings, Learning and Development Manager said: “We would
definitely recommend other logistics companies investing in driver
training from Warwickshire College. Training has been fitted
around our business and the drivers’ working patterns, covering all
sites nationwide, all days of the working week and all shifts over
a 24-hour period.
“Feedback from our employees has been extremely positive.
Some have not undertaken formal training previously, but all have
shown a very positive, committed attitude and we have seen them
taking a great pride in their work.”
Driver Kamil Gryta achieved the QCF Level 2 Certificate in
Driving Goods Vehicles and was awarded the Warwickshire College
Logistics Award in October 2011, for outstanding achievement on his
course.
