Cabin crew students success
Three students from Warwickshire College’s diploma in Air
Cabin Crew Service reaped the rewards of their studies this week
when they got their first jobs in the airline
industry.
Jade Durrell, 18 and Laura Hilliard, 22 have been employed by
Easyjet in Luton, whilst Claire Coops, 21 will be working for the
airline Qatar.
The students started their course in September, learning about
all aspects of cabin crew work, including communication, catering,
airline geography and safety. Previously, they had completed the
college’s two year National Diploma in travel and tourism.
Claire, who will be based in Doha in the Middle East, said “ever
since I was at school, I wanted to work as cabin crew, it’s a dream
come true. The course gave me valuable experience, built my
confidence and taught me interview techniques which enabled me to
get the job. Now I am looking forward to my new life travelling the
world.”
The course is run by Tracey Davies, who herself has over 20
years experience with British Airways. Tracey said "I am very proud
of these students. We hear a lot in the media about job losses and
youth unemployment, so it is great to see what young people can
achieve with determination and the right training. If you've got a
dream, you can succeed."

Other successes from the course include Natalie Hughes who got
an apprenticeship with First Choice and Tom Palmer who will be
starting work as customer service advisor with TUI.
Warwickshire College offers a number of courses in the tourism
industry, including training for overseas reps and airport ground
staff. The course was given a boost recently when the College
formed a partnership with Servisair, the ground operations company
at Birmingham airport, who guarantee each student an interview to
work with them when they complete their studies.
