Supported learning
Designed to give students the skills and confidence to
realise their potential, these courses focus on developing
individuals by supporting and encouraging students through
learning.
Our courses will help students live a full and more independent
life by offering a mixture of interests and skills in a supportive
environment.
Full-time courses
We offer
full-time programmes covering vocational skills, functional skills
and personal social development.
These include:
- Skillbuilder at Leamington
- Countryside Skills at Moreton Morrell
- Skills for Employment Learning and Life
(SELL) at Rugby
- Art in Rural Skills, Animal Care or
Horticulture (FLAIR) at Pershore
Part-time courses
Acquired Brain Injury (ABI)
The ABI programme is a specialist course that
has been designed for adults of all ages who have acquired a brain
injury. Students are encouraged to develop an independent attitude
and approach in moving forward with their lives whether it is in a
social, emotional or working capacity.
Wider Horizons
Provides
personalised learning opportunities and choices to enhance life
skills through communication, practical skills and self
advocacy.
Programme includes: ceramics, art, craft, cookery,
drama, computers, horticulture, woodwork, communication, personal
development and needlework.
In addition, three separate two-hour sessions are held at the
Moreton Morrell Centre for supported learners: Monday –
maintenance skills; Wednesday –
horticulture; Thursday – estate
skills.
Conservation
Programme includes: topical environmental issues,
environmental constructions, wildlife surveying, bird
identification, creating and maintaining wildflower areas, seed
collection and dispersal, and literacy/numeracy skills
encouraged by supported learning through group work, assignments
and recording activities.
Practical Gardening
Programme includes: plant propagation,
vegetable growing, plant identification, planting hanging baskets
and containers, plant maintenance, cultivation of trees, shrubs and
herbaceous plants, hard landscape skills, woodwork items,
literacy/numeracy skills encouraged by supported learning
through group work, assignments and recording activities.
Choices Programme
Provides personalised learning opportunities
and choices to enhance life skills through communication, practical
skills and self advocacy.
Programme includes: art/craft,
cookery, express yourself, ICT, literacy, numeracy, performing
arts.
Horticulture and Art
Programme includes:
Art: mixing colours, drawing and painting,
develop and create simple modelling techniques, complete mosaic
pictures.
Horticulture: potting plants, seed sowing,
collecting seeds and fruits, watering plants, harvesting crops,
collecting and growing cuttings.
PALS
Art
and Land-based Skills – Animal Care or Horticulture
This course will help students improve personal, vocational and
basic skills. Literacy, numeracy and ICT skills
development is embedded into the programme.
They will develop skills in a small group working at a pace
suited to their individual needs. This will help to improve
independence and self confidence, develop a positive
self-image and gain valuable skills to progress into further
education or work.
Programme includes subjects like horticulture and
small animal care.
