CELTA
The CELTA course is an initial qualification for those
wishing to teach English language or ESOL, either overseas or in
the UK.
Certificate in English Language Teaching to Adults
CELTA leads to the internationally recognised University of
Cambridge ESOL Certificate in English Language Teaching to
Adults.
The course is suitable for anyone who have little or no
previous experience or training and are interested in a career in
ELT, or who already have some teaching experience and who want
to develop new skills and get a qualification in this
specialised area.
There are four key components to the course:
- teaching practice with classes of international English
language students
- practical and theoretical input sessions covering techniques
and approaches in ELT
- observation of experienced teachers
- four written assignments.
The college runs three CELTA courses a year; two part-time courses
run over 12 weeks with intakes in September and January, and one
five-week full-time course in June and July.
Introduction to English Language Teaching Taster Days
This one day introductory course is aimed at anyone interested
in English language teaching who would like to find out more about
teaching qualifications and opportunities.
The course does not lead to a qualification but is designed to
help you find out whether English language teaching is for you. The
course is run twice a year on a Saturday.
