Avonbank juice

The new food and drink unit at our Pershore college centre is used for contract apple juice and cider production including a bottling service.

It was designed and built to provide a facility for research and small scale production.

We produce over 40,000 bottles of cider, apple juice and perry every year - these are then marketed to wholesale independent retailers.

Apple juice flavours include:

  • apple
  • apple and raspberry
  • apple and cinnamon
  • apple and blackcurrant
  • apple and ginger.

We also produce an organic range.

Contract Apple Juicing

Pershore College has produced apple juice since 1993. From apple to finished product, bottled and pasteurised, this is a popular use of excess or grade-out fruit, for growers with their own farm shops.

There is also a specialist contract drinks bottling service for the West Midlands cider industry, apple juice, wine and soft drinks industries.

Filtering

For an attractive product, we has the ability to filter out particles to 0.2 micron using a Memcor filter. This is an ideal process for producers wanting a bright, clear cider or perry.

Carbonation

Using a counter-pressure bottler, drinks can be carbonated to give an extra sparkle. Suitable for cider or apple juice, this is a process which can add an extra dimension to drinks.

Students can benefit from training in organic and conventional systems, as well as methods applicable to the amateur gardener or smallholder. Our horticultural facilities contain commercial growing systems and modern production methods for hands on experience.
