Meet the staff
Warwickshire College's agriculture and countryside
team brings together a wide variety of professional experience
to the department.
Alan Scorer
Alan has always lived and worked in the Warwickshire area,
running agricultural businesses and offering sheep shearing
services. Alan is curriculum leader for agriculture and
countryside, teaching sessions including livestock production,
estate skills, machinery and game management. He works closely with
associations such as the NAAC, National Trust, British Wool Board
and BASC.
Mike
Fairclough
Mike studied agriculture before working in the industry. He then
worked as a groundsman and estate worker before moving on to train
and assess young people in horticulture. He then ran a
horticultural training agency for a Birmingham charity, before
coming to Warwickshire College. He is now a course tutor and
curriculum leader for work-based learning programmes.
Jonathan
Clarke
Jonathan was curriculum leader in agriculture at the college
before securing his current role of Farm Manager. As well as
managing the farm, Jonathan teaches livestock management
to students. Prior to working for the college, Jonathan worked
for a number of large livestock farms in the UK and Canada as well
as the Cambridge Veterinary School.
Diane Whitehouse
Technical Academy leader for the agriculture and countryside
programmes, Diane has a farming background but has developed an
academic career in environmental management and sustainable land
use. She also has a PhD in entomology. She has a long history
working in the delivery of higher education, and lectured at
Coventry University before joining Warwickshire College.
Cecilia
Dean
Course tutor for countryside management, Cecilia worked in
the food industry as a technical manager for several years.
She moved into high school teaching and taught all
sciences to GCSE and A level Biology and
Chemistry. Brought up in the countryside, she was keen to
move into the agricultural sector. She also has two horses
which she competes from the college.
Ben Pipe
A countryside management tutor, Ben studied a degree in
environmental conservation and countryside management
at Nottingham Trent University. He later gained experience
working within the countryside management and agricultural
sector, whilst running his own business. He is interested in
all aspects of countryside management, from habitat surveying
to chainsawing!
