What modules are covered?
This course will teach you new skills or improve on existing skills.
Students will choose which of the following disciplines they wish to do:
Costume: During this course students will learn how to make a Costume either from a commercial pattern, adapting a pattern or drafting a pattern to own design. The costume can be made for a Man, Woman or Child. Students will be taught the skills needed to complete a quality made Costume.
Corsetry: You will learn all the correct techniques in corset making and work with all the specialist fabrics and haberdashery, to include boning techniques, inserting a busk and using tools to insert eyelets
This can be made as bridal or fashion wear
You will be guided to choosing the correct fabric to suit your very own design
You can work from a pattern provided, or bring your own pattern, or even experiment in making your own pattern and choosing the style to suit you
Millinery: In this course you will learn how to Block and make a Couture Hat and Trimmings. Your chosen hat can be made in Felt, Straw or Sinamay.
Pattern cutting: This is a recreational programme for students wishing to learn how to make their own patterns for clothing. Patterns can be made to an individual fit then adapted to fashion styling. No experience is necessary as tuition is provided.
Tailoring: A recreational programme for students wishing to undertake tailoring projects. Techniques can be taught in both traditional and speed tailoring methods. Students may choose to make a jacket, coat, skirt or trousers.
Fashion/Sewing: This is a recreational programme. Students choose what they make under the guidance of a qualified tutor. Advice will be given on the best methods of construction, fabrics to use, methods of preparation, finishing etc.

There are no specific requirements, just an enthusiasm to learn new skills.
What else do I need to know?
MATERIALS NEEDED FOR THE COURSE
Basic sewing kit – scissors, pins, tape measure, marking chalk, unpicker, thread. Etc.
You will be advised on any further materials that may be required at your first class.
