Earn while you learn

Apprenticeships are geared towards those already in work or actively seeking employment. The programmes combine study and work, uniquely tailored to your particular job.

Many employers value staff that they have trained to their specific requirements, and often use apprenticeships to achieve this.

They support their staff by providing the opportunities to update skills and help their workforce progress. Companies are becoming increasingly aware and supportive of apprenticeships for all staff, not just trainees.

businessmanAlready employed?

You can join the apprenticeship programme with the support of your employer and base it around your current job.

This could be an opportunity to show your employer you are ready for the next step in your professional development and want to enhance your role and promotion prospects.

Not currently employed?

If you are looking for work independently, ask prospective employers, careers advisors or recruitment services about apprenticeships.

We work closely with many employers, so get in touch and we will advise of appropriate vacancies that may be of interest.

Funding

You will not have to pay for your training, but if you are over 18 your employer will have to meet at least part of this cost.

Types of apprenticeshipScroll

There are three levels of apprenticeship available:

Intermediate Apprenticeships - equivalent to five good GCSE passes

Apprentices work towards work-based learning qualifications such as an NVQ Level 2, Key Skills and, in some cases, a relevant knowledge-based qualification such as a BTEC.

Advanced Apprenticeships - equivalent to two A level passes

Advanced apprentices work towards work-based learning qualifications such as NVQ Level 3, Key Skills and, in most cases, a relevant knowledge-based certificate such as a diploma. To start this programme, you should ideally have five GCSEs (grade C or above) or have completed an apprenticeship.

Higher Apprenticeships

Candidates work towards work-based learning qualifications such as NVQ Level 4 and, in some cases, a knowledge-based qualification such as a foundation degree.

If you want to continue studying while you work, Warwickshire College offers a wide range of vocational and academic courses that you can take on a part-time basis, often as evening classes.

If you want to continue with your job-related studies, our HNC, HND and foundation degree programmes all combine working knowledge and skills with academic studies.
