Juice & cider

All our juice is pressed and bottled in our own purpose-built juicing and bottling facility, where we also have carbonating facilities for the production of cider and sparkling apple juice.

 

appleApple juice flavours include; single variety apples and apple with raspberry, cinnamon, blackcurrant or ginger. There is also an organic range.

 

Where possible, we use fruit grown by us at the college under Assured Farm Standards.  When our own stocks are exhausted, we source fruit from local growers whose orchard management practices are in line with our own.

 

We never add sugar to our juice, preferring to let the individual characteristics of each variety dictate the degree of sweetness of the final product.

 

The only additive used during the juicing process is L. ascorbic acid (Vitamin C) which stops the juice from discolouring. Unlike supermarkets, we do not insist on uniformity – we expect that each batch of juice will be slightly different from the last because nature makes it that way. 

 

CiderCiders

The college also has a small cider orchard, with more than 100 varieties of cider apple. These are fermented together to produce our own range of ciders.

Some of our ciders are available online at Hop Pocket Wine Company.

As well as our traditional ciders and perry, we also produce Old Smuggler, a stronger cider, matured in oak barrels which previously contained sprits for a fuller flavour.

Premium apple juices

In response to demand following a highly successful launch, we are constantly expanding our range of flavoured juices.

 

In line with our emphasis on quality, we use only rigorously selected natural flavourings. Our soft fruit blends are made with freshly pressed fruit juice and are never produced with concentrates.

 

We also add a higher percentage of soft fruit than many of our competitors to give a distinct, yet perfectly balanced, blend of flavours. 

 

Our range of premium juices currently includes:
